Our Candle Care Guide

Follow my simple burning instructions, and your candle will burn clean, straight down the sides of the glass with little or no wastage.

The first time you light your candle let it burn until the wax has melted edge to edge, and the whole of the surface of the candle is liquid. Soy wax has a memory which is why it is important to burn your candle correctly otherwise it will result in your candle tunnelling, meaning that if you only burn the candle for a short time forming a ring round the wick, the next time you light the candle it will only melt across as far as you let it the first time.

It is important to keep the wick trimmed to quarter of an inch by snapping off the excess with your fingers when the candle is cold or use a wick trimmer. Keep the candle wax free from any loose wax trimmings. Always light your candle where the wick meets the wax, not at the top of the wick.

Due to the nature of soy wax, light your candle for no longer than 2 - 3 hrs at a time. Once extinguished the scent will still linger and fill the room. Keeping soy candles lit for too long can burn off all the fragrance too quickly. Once you finish burning your candle place the lid back on to keep the scent locked in.

Never place your candles on anything that could catch fire and always place them on a heat resistant dry surface. Allow the candle to cool completely before relighting, or handling.

Never burn your candle all the way to the bottom of the glass, as this may cause the container to crack or explode.

Never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep candles away from flammable liquids, and out of reach of children and pets.

Fragrances are made of different plant and essence materials which can cause slight variation in colour of the wax can occur from candle to candle, this is a normal characteristic of natural soy wax.

I recommend a candle snuffer to help to keep your candle in perfect condition. Instead of blowing out your candle, which can cause sooting, extinguish it by gently placing the snuffer over the flame.

Our candles are all hand poured in small batches, not mass produced. Sometimes the top of the candle may appear slightly uneven, this is a sign of natural soy wax and will not affect the quality of the candle.
